Why they called us
A council has deadlines that do not move, set by someone else, and reports that have to go out whether the software is ready or not. Before this, the data lived in different offices in different formats and someone assembled it by hand every time.
What we built
Risk mapping, analysis and the reporting on top, plus the mobile app, the backend, the infrastructure and the brand.
The hard part
Public sector data comes from sources that were never designed to talk to each other, and you cannot ask a council to change how it has worked for twenty years. The work was in absorbing the mess on the way in and still producing something an official can sign their name under on a fixed date.
What had to be solved
- Data from offices that each have their own format and their own habits
- Reports that must go out on a date fixed by law
- Risk mapping that has to be readable by someone who is not a data analyst
- Public sector procurement and accessibility rules, which are not optional
