Why they called us

Splitting a bill is easy. Getting paid back is where these apps die, because the money has to move through whatever app your friends already use, not the one you wish they used.

What we built

The full product: interface, mobile app, backend, infrastructure and the brand around it. Two years of it.

The hard part

Every payment method has its own idea of what a completed payment is, and none of them agree on when to tell you. Building one state that stays honest across all of them, so nobody ends up chasing a friend for money that already arrived, is most of what this product is.

What had to be solved

• Money moving through payment platforms we do not control
• One shared balance that several people edit at the same time
• Currencies, so a trip abroad doesn't produce arguments
• Making the awkward part, asking for money back, feel like nothing
